IVF can help, but what else can you do to help increase the chance of getting pregnant once you have received this diagnosis?
Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to harness balance and wellness in the body. At Pulling Down the Moon, we utilize the tools of this ancient medicine to help increase circulation of qi (energy/function) and blood throughout the body, including to the ovaries. By increasing flow of qi and blood as the eggs mature over the course of around 3 months, we have an ongoing opportunity to influence the expression of your eggs to be as healthy as possible.
In a recent study, acupuncture was found to significantly increase the number of mature eggs retrieved as part of an IVF cycle, particularly in women over the age of 37. While we always tailor the treatment used in each visit to your individual needs, our Acupuncture Team utilizes the protocol from the study, a specific group of points with increased frequency of care over the course of 6 weeks, to attempt to match the amazing results that the study found.
While this strategy can be modified to support at any stage during your journey, we strongly recommend considering beginning as early as possible ahead of a planned egg retrieval (or other assisted reproductive therapy) to have the greatest impact on egg quality. You can ask your acupuncturist about any specific concerns you may have about timing.
