Who We Are

Our holistic practitioners specialize in fertility and in addition have been trained by medical infertility specialists to help them blend their specialties in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture, massage and fertility yoga seamlessly with your medical fertility treatment. Individuals who are seeking to conceive without medical intervention will find our practitioners knowledgeable and supportive of whatever path they may choose.

Our Name

One of the first things people ask us about is our name, which is actually derived from a Buddhist meditation to White Tara, the bodhisattva of healing.

In fact, the words “Pulling Down the Moon” resonate with many symbols from eastern and western spiritual beliefs. The moon, as we all know, is intimately related to the tides and the female reproductive cycle. In addition, this peaceful luminary is the heavenly body that governs the astrological sign of Cancer, which is in turn the sign of home and mother. In both yoga and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), the moon is associated with female energy, called ida and yin respectively in these traditions.

The idea of pulling down the moon calls to mind the challenges that some of us face when trying to conceive. It is during this time that our femininity feels challenged, that some of us may feel that motherhood is as far away as the moon and just as hard to reach. Yet, at Pulling Down the Moon we believe that all of us have exactly what we need to be happy and complete, is it often just waking up to that fact that is the challenge.

Our Philosophy

Pulling Down the Moon is a unique place of community and holistic healing for women and couples trying to conceive a child.

Like our yoga classes, the Center is the result of the personal experiences of teachers and practitioners who have “been there”: through the shots, the procedures, the ultrasounds and the long waits of fertility treatment. At PDtM you will find everything you need to support your medical fertility treatment with acupuncture, massage, yoga, meditation or cognitive therapy.

The Center is an oasis in the stressful world of pre-conception. In addition to a beautiful, secluded yoga room, our treatment rooms for acupuncture and massage therapy are tranquil and inviting. Best of all is our welcoming tea room, a place of support and comfort where you can come just to read a magazine, have a cup of specially blended tea and know that you are not alone on this journey.

Integrative Care for Fertility Defined

Integrative Care for Fertility (ICF)™ is a holistic approach to increasing a woman’s fertility, through fertility acupuncture, fertility yoga classes, Mayan Abdominal and therapeutic massage, nutrition counseling, spirituality classes and other unique offerings designed to help a couples conceive.

We know that it can be very difficult separating the emotional, psychological, and spiritual effects of fertility treatment from the physical. In addition to our proprietary holistic fertility services, Pulling Down the Moon works in partnership with your medical doctor in treating the whole person: mind, body and spirit. Integrative Care for Fertility does not replace advanced reproductive technology; it supports both patient and health care provider during a stressful and emotional time.

While most come to Pulling Down the Moon as a way to complement their ART, others choose to come in lieu of medical intervention. A recent survey of our students found that approximately 75% of women who completed our trademarked yoga for fertility class became pregnant within six months. Of the women who became pregnant roughly 25% reported “spontaneous” pregnancies, conceived without ART.

Pulling Down the Moon has been offering holistic fertility treatment since 2002. We invite you to enter our site and discover what we’ve learned over the years. Read the stories of women who have come through our doors. Post your own questions for our holistic fertility specialists on our interactive bulletin board and browse the products we found useful in our own journey towards parenthood.

Most of all, we wish you blessings on your journey.
